Dr. Hatfield graduated from Montana State University - Billings with the distinction of high honors. He graduated medical school from the University of Nevada in 1993 and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Hatfield completed a one year internship in internal medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Following his internship he completed a three year residency training program in dermatology at UAMS and was board certified in 1997. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
